Stokemeter Tough Mudder 2012!
We Made It!
On Saturday, January 14th, 2012 was the Tough Mudder event that was held in Chandler, Arizona at the old Mesa Proving Grounds. Seven slightly wacked individuals banded together to take on what is described as, “….hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.” In Stokemeter style we were an hour late for our start time but has no problem jumping in on the next wave of starters.
Enjoy some of the pictures from our day of dust, mud, freezing ice water, cramps, laughs, electrical shocks, and most of all….fun. I want to personally thank each and every team member of this years Stokemeter team. It wouldn’t have been the same without you from the time we all met at the hotel room until we all finally made it back later that evening freezing and dressed in trash bags and space blankets. Thanks so much!
Exactly one year ago from the day of this years Tough Mudder event we attended I was helping to set up for a nieces wedding reception when I got the call that a close friend was involved in a hand gliding accident that would take his life. Shane was somebody I admired in many ways. I know for a fact that if he were still with us we would have been side by side laughing our heads off while jumping into ice filled water, getting shocked so hard it felt like you were kicked by a horse, and so much more. I didn’t tell my other team mates the significance this years event held for me personally. I don’t think they would have understood that Shane would have kicked my hiney if he knew he was the source of even a moment of solemness. Throughout the entire event I felt like he was there with me enjoying the experience. It was a special day for me as a result.
I would like to dedicate this years Tough Mudder Stokemeter experience to my good friend Shane and his incredible family as well as to all those whose life he touched so deeply during his time with us. Here’s to you buddy!
